ADA Title II Advisory Committee
Legislation and Budget Issues Workgroup
CHARGE
This workgroup will address issues related to federal laws
and requirements as well as Wisconsin’s budgets, statutes and rules and will
develop recommendations for changes needed in those areas to improve Wisconsin’s
compliance with Title II of the ADA and the Olmstead decision. This work
group will have both a short term and a long term focus on people in
institutional settings who are appropriate for and want to come out.
In the short term this work group will:
 | Review the timing of the upcoming legislative cycle and recommend a
strategy for the upcoming budget process to improve Wisconsin’s compliance
with Title II of the ADA and Olmstead in the next biennium. |
| Review the Department’s and the Governor’s budget proposals in light
of Title II of the ADA and Olmstead and make recommendations as
appropriate. |
For the longer term this work group will:
| Review the current state statutes and federal long term care system
budgeting. Develop specific statutory or long term budget proposals to
assure consistent statewide implementation of programs and systems so that
the statutes and budgets support Wisconsin’s efforts to provide community
care to individuals affected by Title II of the ADA and Olmstead. |
| Review other workgroup recommendations for needed federal or state
legislation or budget proposals. Working with the other groups, draft
statutory, rule or budget recommendations in appropriate areas. |
